Residu Local
With Eleonore Van Godtsenhoven
'This is a scale model of the Planet Mars.
It was used by the students of the nearby Royal Institute for Sea and Space Travel. They didn't have computer generated images at their disposal at that time, so instead they relied on scale models for their studies. If you look really close, you can see where they were planning to land.'
All places change.
And while the people move on, silent witnesses are left on the street. If a city is a collection, what is she made up of? If we would want to compile a place and show our compilation, where do we start looking and what do we find there?
Residu Local is an attempt at looking for the deposit of history. The things that are left and the stories they tell. Stories that may not necessarily be exact, without becoming less truthful.
Residu Local is a theater piece that is tailor-made specifically for each new place it visits. Taking into account it's history, it's inhabitants and whatever else we can find. The first edition was made for the Over Het IJ Festival at the former NDSM warf in the north of Amsterdam in the summer of 2019. It has also found space Langerbrugge (KONNEKTOR, 2020), Oostende (ZomerInO, 2020) and in Brugge as a scavenger hunt in times of Covid-19 (KrikKrak Online Festival, 2020).
